Windows 7
November 2, 2009 at 12:14 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentI was using the RC1 for a couple of months on an old PC and found it a joy to work with. It had no problems installing any of my peripheral devices which included an old Epsom scanner as well as an OKI B4100 laser printer and a Brother MFC6490. It saw my networked MyWorldBook external drive and my USB attached Seagate drive.
I was so impressed with it that I purchased the full product and installed it on my main PC(running Vista) as soon as it arrived. I have not been disappointed, nothing appears to have changed since the RC. It boots so much quicker and the installation process only took 30minutes. If you are having trouble with Vista I would highly recommend that you upgrade today.
Well done Microsoft; not often I have said that in the last 20 years.

November 23, 2008 at 11:33 am | In Virus, computer support | Leave a CommentI wrote recently about this virus and it is still doing the rounds. With one client we removed the virus by using the PCGuard software from Virgin Media. The customer upgraded the PCGuard service for £2/3 a month(minimum 2 months) and once run, this removed the virus.

Antivirus 2009 – spyware infection
November 12, 2008 at 9:20 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentRecently I have received a lot of calls regarding this particular infection. It is in fact spyware that is trying to get you to buy its full version. Under no circumstances should you purchase this product.
You may see the following dialog box displayed if you are infected.
To remove this spyware you can either call myself in to do it for you
at an approximate cost of £50(which includes for you to keep the
spyware removal tool) or follow this process to remove the offending
software.
Step 1 – download the software product SPYHUNTER v.3 Scanner
Step 2 – Install the scanner and run a complete scan of all your hard disks
Step 3 – If it reports that you have the spyware Antivirus 2009 then purchase the software so it can remove the spyware.
If you would like some more detailed technical information on this particular spyware a good article can be found here.
